Betawipost co.id HABIB Usman bin Yahya Mufti Betawi dari jakarta lahir di Pekojan,Jakarta Barat pada tanggal 17 Rabi’ul Awwal 1238 H atau 1822 M. Ayahnya adalah Abdullah bin Aqil bin Syech bin Abdurahman bin Aqil bin Ahmad bin Yahya. Sedangkan ibunya adalah Aminah binti Syekh Abdurahman Al-Misri. Beliau pergi ke Mekah untuk menunaikan ibadah Haji, tetapi kemudian bermukim di sana selama 7 tahun dengan maksud memperdalam ilmunya. Guru utama beliau adalah ayahnya sendiri. Sedangkan ketika berada di Mekah beliau belajar/berguru pada sayyid Ahmad Zaini Dahlan ( Mufti Mekah ). Pada tahun 1848 beliau berangkat pula ke Hadramaut untuk balajar pada guru-gurunya.

“Dari Hadramaut beliau berangkat pula ke Mesir dan belajar di Kairo walaupun hanya untuk 8 bulan. Kemudian meneruskan perjalanan lagi ke Tunis ( berguru pada Syekh Abdullah Basya ), Aljazair ( belajar pada Syekh Abdurahman Al-Magribhi ), Istanbul, Persia dan Syiria. Maksud beliau berpergian dari satu negeri ke negeri lain adalah untuk memperoleh dan mendalami bermacam-macam ilmu seperti ilmu fiqh, tasawuf, tarikh, falak, dan lain-lain. “HABIB Utsman seorang mufti di dunia Melayu yang paling banyak dipercakapkan orang. Realiti tersebut tidak dapat kita nafikan kerana memang banyak sebab orang bercakap mengenainya, sama ada orang yang suka maupun yang kontroversi.
Setiap langkah kebijaksanaan seseorang ulama atau tokoh besar memang demikianlah yang akan berlaku.Hampir semua ulama asli Jakarta yang ada sekarang merupakan pertalian daripada Saiyid Utsman turun ke murid, tidak ubah seumpama Syeikh Abdul Azhim dengan ulama-ulama Madura, Syeikh Ahmad Khatib Minangkabau dengan ulama-ulama Minangkabau: Tok Kenali dengan ulama-ulama Malaysia dan lain-lain seumpama mereka.

Syeikh Ahmad ad-Dimyathi, Saiyid Ahmad bin Zaini Dahlan, Saiyid Muhammad bin Husein al-Habsyi dan Syeikh Rahmatullah. Di Hadhramaut, beliau belajar kepada Saiyid Abdullah bin Husein bin Thahir, Saiyid Abdullah bin Umar bin Yahya, Saiyid Hasan al-Bahr dan lain-lain. Di Tunisia, beliau belajar kepada Syarif Muhammad bin Abdul Jawad al-Qabisi.

Beliau sangat di segani oleh ulama -ulama di Betawi karena keluasan ilmu yang dimiliki setiap menjelang bulan Ramadhon beliau mengumpulkan para ulama-ulama baik Ulama-ulama Betawi maupun diluar Betawi. Bertempat di Masjid keramat Luar batang di makom Waliyulloh Habib Husein bin abu bakar al idrus. Forum silahturahim para ulama yang di gagas oleh Habib Usman bin Yahya tersebut hingga saat ini masih tetap di lestarikan maka setiap akhir kamis di bulan Syaban ramai ramai baik para ulama dan masyarakat dari berbagai daerah datang berkunjung keluar batang untuk bersilahturahim menyambut bulan Ramadhon dan mengambil Tabaruk dari Shohibul makom dengan suguhan hidangan khas Nasi kebulinya. Karena biasanya para ulama-ulama selama bulan Romadhon jarang keluar rumah mereka khusu’ beribadah di rumah selama bulan Romadhon.
Tahun 1913 Habib usman bin yahya wafat dengan meninggalkan buah karya kitab yang sampai saat ini masih di baca dan menjadi rujukan para ulama.
