Musik Gambus Sangat Digemari Masyarakat Betawi
Betawipost co.id Sebagai ibu kota Negara Indonesia Jakarta menjadi muara pendatang baru,dari seluru hpenjuru Nusantara dan Dunia. Meskipun begitu, etnik Betawi dipercaya sebagai penduduk yang paling awal mendiami kawasan yang dahulu disebut Batavia.Tidak lama berselang, Jakarta kemudian dihuni oleh orang Sunda, Jawa, Bali,Maluku, Melayu, dan dari daerah luar Nusantara seperti etnis Cina, Belanda, Arab,dan Portugis.Suku dan etnis ini membawa serta adat-istiadat dan tradisi budaya mereka yang kemudian berasimilasi dengan identitas budaya dan kesenian setempat.Adapun Bahasa yang dipergunakan untuk berkomunikasi antar-penduduk sehari-hari adalah bahasa Melayu.
“Penduduk Betawi sejak awal sudah sangat heterogen. Kesenian Betawi lahir dari perpaduan berbagai unsur etnis dan suku bangsa yang ada di Betawi. Contohnya;seni music Betawi tidak terhindar dari proses perpaduan Eropa, Tionghoa, Arab,Melayu, Sunda, dan lain-lain. Dalam tulisan ini, penulis mengajak pembaca untuk mengenal seni musik, seni taria, seni pertunjukan, dan ritual yang biasa dilakukan oleh masyarakat Betawi pada umumnya.
“Orkes Gambus dahulu dikenal dengan sebutan irama ³Padang Pasir´. Pada tahun 1940an orkes gambus menjadi tontonan yang disenagi oleh masyarakat Betawi terutama apabila ada acara pesta pernikahan ataupun khitanan.bahwa Orkes gambus sudah ada di Jakarta sejak awal abad ke-19. Saat itu sudah banyak imigran dari Hadramaut (Yaman Selatan) dan Gujarat yang dating ke Jakartauntuk berdakwah sambil berniaga.Peralatan Musik Gambus sangat bervariasi, tapi biasanya pada setiap pementasan terdiri dari gambus, biola, dumbuk, suling, organ, atau akordion, dan marawis.
