Betawipost.co.id (Puspen TNI). Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Gatot Nurmantyo menghadiri acara penganugerahan gelar Pahlawan Nasional kepada empat tokoh yang diberikan secara resmi oleh Presiden RI Ir. Joko Widodo kepada ahli waris masing-masing di Istana Negara, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis (9/11/2017).
Empat tokoh nasional yang menerima penganugerahan gelar Pahlawan Nasional yaitu Almarhum TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid dari Nusa Tenggara Barat, Almarhumah Laksamana Malahayati dari Aceh, Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Riayat Syah dari Kepulauan Riau dan Almarhum Prof. Drs. H. Lafran Pane dari D.I. Yogyakarta.
Penganugerahan gelar Pahlawan diberikan dalam rangka memperingati Hari Pahlawan Nasional 10 November 2017, ditetapkan melalui Keputusan Presiden RI Nomor 115/TK/TAHUN 2017 tanggal 6 November 2017 tentang Penganugerahan Gelar Pahlawan Nasional, melalui sidang Dewan Gelar, Tanda Jasa dan Tanda Kehormatan pada tanggal 19 Oktober 2017 sesuai usulan dari Kementerian Sosial Rl.
Selain itu pemberian gelar Pahlawan Nasional berpedoman pada Undang-Undang Nomor 20 Tahun 2009 tentang Gelar, Tanda Jasa, dan Tanda Kehormatan. Khususnya pasal 26 menjelaskan bahwa gelar diberikan kepada seseorang yang telah meninggal dunia dan semasa hidupnya pernah memimpin dan melakukan perjuangan bersenjata atau perjuangan politik atau perjuangan dalam bidang lain untuk mencapai, merebut, mempertahankan dan mengisi kemerdekaan serta mewujudkan persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa.
